  1. CHEW NEWS!
#1 has sold out and people have said nice things about it. If you’re in Sydney and still want a copy, I’ve made a second run for Salon Reworked at the Verge Gallery. There’s a launch tomorrow night featuring circus performers, fire twirlers, graffiti battlers and more. Come say hi!
#2 submissions are now open. The theme is Good For You! Here’s the call-out copy:

I’m pretty keen on the idea of food that is good for you and also the environment, but what I also find incredible is the demented thing that humans do where we limit what we eat because of an arbitrary set of values. Seriously! Everyone talks about raw food, freeganism, Mark Bittman’s thing where he’s vegan til 5pm then out come the steak knives. They’re all worth talking about. But you also have those moments when you’re travelling and meet this precious pack of Koreans who want to feed you, and feed you well, and you look at the spread of foods and there’s maybe three tiny side dishes you can eat and then an overflowing wealth of meat, and they’re gesturing at the barbecue plate and smiling with their hands and eyes and seriously, seriously, what do you do?

Read this flyer for more details and ideas. I’m pretty excited for the way people are taking the spirit of the theme and making it their own; it’s going to be a good issue. The deadline is Sunday December 11, email me at cassandra.grant@gmail.com and if you’d like to get involved in any way let me know!
